Practice Update for 8-14

August 13th, 2007

The intense heat has forced us to make the decision to practice this week a little later than usual.  Today we scheduled practice at 6:00pm and Tuesday’s practice is scheduled for a 5:30pm start.  We should be off the field no later than 8:00 pm.  I do not have any information available for the Wednesday practice time as we coaches have not decided how to approach that yet.  I do know that I will not allow football to compete with Church.  A decision will be made on Tuesday and I will post the time on this space.  On Thursday we will have our first scrimmage on the game field beginning at 6:00pm.  The players are excited about this and we hope that our parents and fans will come out and get a sneak peek at our team. 

Practice today went pretty well considering the change in routine.  The heat was not quite as bad as it would have been with the sun beaming down, but it was still very hot and humid.  The players are working hard and have maintained a good attitude throughout the pre-season. 

Coach Hardin and Coach Reeves missed Monday’s practice with illness.  Please keep these two outstanding individuals in your thoughts and prayers as they regain their health and hopefully rejoin the team on the field at the earliest in the next day or two.   I would like to commend the entire coaching staff for picking up the slack and making practice run as smooth as possible in these two coaches absense.  We have some super guys on our coaching staff and I am thankful that they are on our team. 

Please continue to encourage your players to drink plenty of water and sport’s beverages to maintain a high level of hydration.  Also encourage your players to eat healthy and get a good nights rest.
